A follow-along burpee timer

Badass Burpees is a free burpee pacer that runs in your browser. Tell it which burpee you are doing, how many reps you want and how long you have, and it does the arithmetic: it spreads the reps evenly across the window, counts you in, then calls every position of every rep aloud while an illustrated figure demonstrates the movement in time with the voice. You follow the voice instead of watching a clock.

The two variants

The six-count burpee is eight positions (hands to hips, tuck, plank, chest, plank, tuck, hands to hips, stand), of which six are counted aloud. The Navy SEAL burpee is twelve positions and ten calls, adding a right-knee drive, a chest, a left-knee drive and another chest in the middle of the plank. Every position is one beat of the metronome, one frame of the animation and, where it is counted, one spoken number, so the voice and the figure can never drift apart.

What it is for

Follow-along burpee videos only cover the sessions somebody happened to film, and the useful part of them, the pacing, is entirely mechanical. This replaces the fixed video with a configurable one: any rep target from 5 to 200, any window from 5 to 120 minutes, and a tempo you can tune by 50 milliseconds a position if the default beat is not yours. It calls out every tenth rep, halfway, five to go and the last one, so you always know where you are without looking.

No account, no tracking

Nothing to sign up for, nothing stored, and nothing sent out anywhere.

Free, and staying free

No ads, no tracking, nothing held back. It is built and paid for by one person. If it has got you through a session you can buy me a coffee, which unlocks nothing and never will. What it does do is cover the domain and keep one person interested in improving it.
